Sulfur is usually formed in petroleum deposits and near volcanoes and hot springs. In volcanoes, Sulfur rich gases leave the volcanoes and cool around the vent. There is an abundance of Sulfur in and around us. Sulfur is named the 10th most abundant element in the universe, the 11th most abundant element in the human body. In terms of Sulfur's relationship to the human body, it helps the body detox, encourages the elimination of disease and serves as the bodies defensive strength. It is an antidote for ridding the body of heavy metals. Sulfur is used mainly in manufacturing sulfuric acid, and is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals, soaps, dyes, food preservatives, etc.
Egyptians have been using Sulfur for over 4,000 years ago, In the 16th century, Sulfur was used to sanitize rooms where infections were present. Children used sulfur to help with digestion and bowel movements. In alchemy, Sulfur is known as the "holy trinity" because it contains the three vital minerals needed in alchemy. Mexican Indians and South American cultures used Sulfur crystals during healing ceremonies to tap into the four directions (and Mother Earth and Father Sky).
