Selenite helps us understand our connection with the universe and to the divine creations within ourselves. By merging with our light body it helps connect with angelic kingdoms and spiritual guides. Selenite is recommended to be placed at the four corners of ones home to establish peace and rid of negative external influences. Selenite is a great tool to work with when wanting to raise consciousness. Resembling a white ray of light these crystals are particularly effective in stabilizing the emotional body and bringing erratic emotions under calm control. Selenite helps purify and cleanse any energetic blocks or debris. It intensifies energies of the upper chakras. Selenite helps us develop a clear relationship with our higher selves.
Chemical Formula: CaSO4*2H2O.
Selenite is a type of gypsum. Gypsum is the most common of all sulfate minerals. Gypsum is calcium sulfate — a substance with very low hardness. Gypsum formed when ancient oceans evaporated and is typically found in dry locations, such as deserts. Within the human body, calcium is essential for human life and makes up bones and teeth. It is also important for clearly relaying messages through the nervous.
Selenite is named after the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene, because Selenite looks so similar to the moonlight. Greeks actually made windows out of Selenite so they "could see more clearly" which is part of Selenites metaphysical meaning. From the 15th century, “Selenite” has referred specifically to the variety of gypsum that occurs in transparent crystals or crystalline masses.
