Cobalto Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral with cobalt. Calcite is the largest component of most of the limestone and marble deposits on Earth. Covering more than 40 % of its surface in the form of limestone, Calcite is also the most widely distributed mineral on Earth. Calcite crystals are found on all of the planet’s continents. It may be made during igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic processes. It is usually formed at the bottom of saltwater oceans and lakes. Liquid calcium, algae, corals and shells combine with mud and solidify into a mass rock over time. Then through metamorphic processes of additional heat and pressure calcite is made. While this is the most common way Calcite is made, it can be formed joining alongside Feldspar during igneous rock processes. In the human body, Calcium encourages the metabolism of cells and is vital for forming DNA (holder of genetic information) and RNA (the sender of information on proteins, hormones, and enzymes). It strengthens the heart and the rhythm of the heart and regulates the acid/alkaline states of the body. Also, calcium supports and strengthens bones. Calcite's acid-neutralizing abilities are used in the pharmaceutical industry today. It is also used in construction materials, pigments, soil treatments, and more.
Calcite comes from the Greek word chalix, meaning lime. This is because Calcite is often found in Limestone. Native Americans viewed Calcite as a 'holy stone' sent down from the Gods. Cobalto Calcite is a relatively new discovery.
